SUMMERSEAT & RSVP (Perfect Together)
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in St. Mary’s County is run under the auspices of the County Department of Aging. It tracks the number of volunteer hours made by County residents aged 55 and over to County non-profits such as Summerseat Farm, Inc.
These hours are totaled and reported to state and federal governments. Hours reported have an impact on grant money provided to the Board of County Commissioners so that the more volunteer hours that are actually captured and reported the more funding becomes available to St. Mary’s County.
Summerseat is a participant in this program and, since volunteers are requested to report their hours at Summerseat monthly anyway, we are encouraging our volunteers to report their hours monthly to RSVP as well. Reporting these hours is probably easier than having taxes raised. This will not only mean increased funding to our county but get you an invite to the annual RSVP Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon in March.
